Dr. Bryan Scalf - Dentist

Dr. Bryan Scalf, a Virginia native who was raised alongside the Blueridge Mountains, moved to Atlanta in 2023. He earned his undergraduate degree at James Madison University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Biology. He later attended Virginia Commonwealth University to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Driven by education and wanting to better serve the patients he cares for, Dr. Scalf did a General Practice Residency at the University of Virginia after receiving his DDS. The focus of the residency was to expand on all aspects of dentistry with a specific emphasis on treating complex dental cases and medically complex patients.

Dr. Scalf’s approach to a strong patient-doctor relationship begins with a great conversation, long before any actual treatment is rendered. He encourages and wants patients to ask any questions they may have. He considers himself a very visual person and describes treatments and outcomes through pictures and/or models as necessary. His goal is to provide you with an understanding of treatment, if needed, and, more importantly, break it down simply and realistically for patients to understand.

Dr. Scalf’s clinical interests span from non-invasive dentistry such as restorative, including CEREC same-day dentistry for crowns and bridges and root canals and endodontic, to more invasive options like extractions, grafting, and implant placement. No matter what treatment option is selected by the patient, one thing always stays the same: the need for a patient-centered and comprehensive approach. Dr. Scalf does not believe in just treating teeth, but treating the underlying cause of why dental issues occur, so outcomes may be long-lasting.

Patients appreciate Dr. Scalf’s approach to listening, understanding, and developing a plan that is systematic, easy to understand, and meets the goals of the patient. The ideal solution is when these can all be accomplished while providing an outcome that is healthy, comfortable, functional, and esthetic.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also a dentist aspiring to become an oral surgeon, hanging with their two dogs, traveling,  trying new restaurants, and hanging out on the Atlanta Beltline.
